Framing a Pre-hung Interior Door

Step 1
On the ceiling, snap a chalk line to indicate where the top plate of the new wall will be installed. Cut the material for the top plate to length, then nail the top plate through the ceiling into the ceiling joists or blocking.Step 2
Use a plumb bob to mark the floor where the sole plate will be installed. Nail the sole plate to the floor, driving the nails into the floor joists or blocking. ck stud locations because this portion of the plate will be removed before the door is installed.
Step 3
Measure and cut the king studs, and position them at the markings. Drive nails at a 45-degree angle to make a toenailed joint, or you can attach the studs with metal connectors.Step 4
Measure the length of the jack studs to 80 7/8 inches.
Step 5
Make a header by sandwiching two 2x4s around a 1/2-inch piece of plywood. Cut the header to fit between the king studs. Install a cripple stud between the header and the top plate, halfway between the king studs. Toenail the cripple stud to the top plate and the side of the header.Step 6
Position the jack studs against the inside of the king studs, and nail them in place. Nail through the king studs into the header.

Doors I got without frames AND French doors
Two door questions this morning, folks:
1. How difficult to install doors I got free that came without frames? I have handyman available, but heard it is really time consuming to get doors like this squared / levelled for a new installation.
2. I have a pair of interior French doors that I would like to use as single "regular" doors (for closets). Clearly one door would need to have lock part changed to a knob part, but otherwise, is it possible to do fairly easily?
Thanks
I'm looking to replace some interior doors
Want to replace the frames and jambs. I saw some sort of jig/guide on some show on Discovery or TLC or something, where they took the old door off the hinges, clamped this jig on, matched up the cut-out for the hinges and then transferred it to the new door panel.
Anybody know what I am talking about? Where can I get one? What is it's proper name?
Thanks in advance!
If you take your time and do a good job the
Cabinets will look fantastic.
Whether or not you paint the interior is a personal choice up to you... if you can live with the inside and outside being two different colors... then don't worry about the insides. Personally, I would paint both inside and outside, but that's just my opinion.
On the outside, take the doors and hinges completely off. Sand off the shiny finish on the doors and cabinet frames with an electric sander (wear a dust mask), and then prime and paint.
If you want them to be shiny, you can put a top coat or two of high-gloss or semi-gloss polyurethane finish, whatever you prefer
We took a styrofoam head (wig stand)
...and put it one of the forward line lockers on the submarine I was on just before we went out to do "angles and dangles" (testing before going on patrol where the boat is taken to max depth, extreme up and down angles etc.) When we came back it was roughly the size of my fist.
The weirdest compression bit though is that non-watertight doors need to be kept open (by putting tape across the jambs) before taking it to test depth, otherwise they can get stuck shut due to the hull compressing. It squeezes/twists the fairly lightweight interior partitions enough to pinch the doors in their frames.
