The glass patio doors are a prime entry

Point for break ins when you have one partially open for the dog door panel. You should cut a wood dowel to drop into the sliding track to stop anyone from pushing the patio door open on you. Good safety issue.
I'm not sure what CBS is either. Are you talking about a metal door installed on front, or a hollow construction door (some older homes don't have solid wood ones).

  • Avatar notmyidea4 Replace non-locking with locking door knob?
    Apr 17, 2008 by notmyidea4 | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I want to replace a standard non-locking door knob with one that has keyed lock. What is the best way to create that extra little notch for the locking part?

    • Try this link, for some helpful information -
lockset you purchased, should have come with a new latchplate, and complete installation instructions. Most entry locks will fit a 1" diameter bore, for the lat …e wood behind it a bit to fit the opening of the plate. I would hold the new latch plate in place, and use a pen or pencil to mark the opening...then chisel back to the line. Should be quick work.
