No not all, but you can't deny..

The facts on some. I get rounded information from magazines, websites, reports, etc. I keep in touch on multiple areas have for years. But if you went a little further into the specs and stats you would see that going to vinyl double pane from a single pane in the new england market gets you $400 - $500 in savings a year based on the statistical model home I talked about before. If you replace and can see that you get ROI in 4 to 5 years, if you don't go overboard and call the big price boys. But the single greatest leaks in a home come from attic, window, and door (not in any order)you won't save much money unless you put up the 3M film inside

Standard northern construction

Once you have well-insulated walls, the bulk of heat conductivity is through the studs, not the insulation.
So, you use a 2 X 6 top and bottom plate, but then use 2 X 4 studs every 12 inches. This gives you 24" O.C. support for the sheetrock and exterior, but vertical support equal to 2 X 6 on 16" centers. None of the 2 X 4s are in contact with both the interior and exterior. Makes a huge diff. The wall insulation is standard R-19.
Also, using double-pane windows with a larger than normal thermal break is crucial, as is sealing up all the small air leaks between house and attic that occur at the electric fixture boxes
